| These are very good coals.
They take a while to light on a gas stove, but that is to be expected with natural coals such as these. About 5 minutes, so I usually make a cup of coffee or tea whilst leaving a block sitting on the stove, to drink & enjoy with my smoke.
They burn for a long while on my Mya Saray QT, about an hour or so (which is longer than the SwiftLite quick light coals I used previously), but not the specified 2.5hours it says on the box (I imagine they'd last that long if the pipe wasn't being sucked on every minute or two, but what use is that?).
The coals themselves are cube-shaped, about 2.5 x 2.5cm.
They work best when cut in half, but this is a pain in the arse to do (with a serrated kitchen knife, I'd try a small saw if I had one) and leaves a lot of charcoal mess. Also they don't burn as long when cut in half, but still plenty long enough to finish a bowl of shisha off.
Most of the time I don't bother cutting them in half; a single charcoal is hot enough to toast the whole bowl and only requires occasionally flipping / ashing (could probably get away without even doing this but I get pretty OCD about it).
Overall, a great charcoal for shisha smoking. 4 stars. I'd give it 5 but these are my first natural coals; no other coals to compare it to, so it'd be unfair considering there might be some naturals out there that light easier / burn longer.
Highly recommended! |
